Tale of a Busted Commentator

Below are some heart felt comments I attempted to post to The Huffington Post (THP)on this anniversary of 9/11 regarding this story: Obama References Bush Failings On 9/11: "Let Us Remember That The Terrorists Responsible For 9/11 Are Still At Large"
The Illinois senator added: "Let us remember that the terrorists responsible for 9/11 are still at large, and must be brought to justice."

Excuse me, Senator Obama..sir, the terriorists most directly responsible for the attacks of 9/11 are burning in Hell along with their collaborators and compatriots all around the world; having been killed in places like Iraq, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and elsewhere where, due to the leadership and initiative of Georgia W. Bush and the United States military, elements of Al-Qaeda and the Taliban are being systematically hunted down and killed, thus enhancing the security of freedom loving and peaceful people everywhere.

That is the kind of justice that is needed on this anniversary of 9/11. That is the kind of justice that the next administration needs to provide. That is the kind of policy that a McCain-Palin administration would have the courage to pursue. What about a Obama-Biden administration? What kind of justice would you pursue? A long jail sentence?
When I attempted to post my comments in the comment section to the article on the THF website I got the following response:
This comment is pending approval and won't be displayed until it is approved.
Hey, that's cool. I can appreciate that there needs to be some community standards and controls so that obscene material is not published in their blog, even in the comment section of their articles.

Guess what? Those blowhards at The Huffington Post chose not to publish my comments.

Nice censorship job. And on top of that, while I was searching to see if my comment had been approved I was found out by Huffington Post “Security Forces” and in place of my name and a live “post” button, those stinking Stalinists put the following:
Post a comment

Sorry, but you have been banned from commenting
I guess I must have violated community standards, or something. Perhaps in the terms of service it says something like, “you will speak no ill of terrorists and Democratic candidates and you will only use the word H-E-L-L as an expletive, not as a place name.”

Oh well, looks like I’m busted.

How nice and opened minded of those Huff ‘n Puffers. I guess this experience is an example of how free speech will be curtailed and what kind of speech we can expect the Left to censor should, God forbid, Obama win in November.

Palin, a Rare Woman

Saw a bumper sticker yesterday that read,
"Well behaved women rarely make history"
I guess that means Vice-Presidential Candidate Sarah Heath Palin is a rare woman indeed.

Understanding Taiwan Politics

Jerome Keating, a fellow son-in-law of Taiwan who actually lives immersed Taiwan politics (in Taipei) rather than just writing about it, explains in this essay the cultural and historical background of realpolitik in Taiwan.

In case you are not familiar here are a couple of terms that will help you better understand Dr. Keating's essay:

(1) Wild Lily is the name of a student movement in 1990 led by students seeking democratic reforms on the island.

(2) Red envelopes containing cash are given out on special occasions such as weddings and on Lunar New Year. Red envelope is also an euphemism for a bribe.

Taiwan's Political Gravy Train in Search of a Wild Lily
Thursday September 04, by Jerome F. Keating Ph.D.

While hundreds of thousands have taken to the streets to show their displeasure with the ineffectual performance and potential betrayal of the country's sovereignty by Ma Ying-jeou in his first 100 days, other media headlines have been discussing the so-called "money laundering" scandal of the former president, Chen Shui-bian. Chen had wired (via his wife) some twenty million US dollars to bank accounts overseas. While it is being investigated as to whether it is actually laundering, some felt betrayed; some felt justified, and many others were shocked. Regardless of that, what this does is expose how Taiwan politics is and has been one big, long, and continuous gravy train.

Surprised? Shocked? You shouldn't be. It should be a wake-up call to examine the real problem that plagues Taiwan. It is a problem that predates Chen Shui-bian, an age old Taiwan problem that is three-fold, human, cultural, and historical.

Paraguay to reverse support for Taiwan at UN

By PEDRO SERVIN10 hours ago

ASUNCION, Paraguay (AP) — Paraguay will reverse its historic support for Taiwan at the upcoming United Nations General Assembly, and also is reconsidering its relations with communist regimes.

President Fernando Lugo said his government wants to maintain diplomatic relations with all countries of similar interests.

"Paraguay's foreign policy will be independent under my government and will not accept conditions," Lugo said in a local television interview Sunday.

Paraguay, the last South American country to recognize Taiwan, has supported the island since 1957, voting every year in support of resolutions to admit Taiwan to the assembly. Nations that recognize Taiwan don't have diplomatic relations with communist China, which considers the island a renegade province.

But Lugo's election last April ended 61 years of one-party, conservative rule under which Paraguay distanced itself from communist countries. The leftist president, who was inaugurated Aug. 15, said he wants to establish relations with China, which has boosted its diplomatic and trade ties with Latin America in recent years.

Lugo also said he is considering an invitation to visit Cuba from former President Fidel Castro.

But Lugo says he is not following in the footsteps of another South American leftist leader, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, who has established close ties with China and Cuba.

"I will not be influenced in any way by President Hugo Chavez," Lugo told Channel 2 television in Asuncion. "My government will not copy any foreign political model. We have our own reality different from that of other nations."

In return for Paraguay's 51 years of support, Taiwan has sent millions of dollars to the impoverished country for low-income housing, agricultural development and scholarships. Even now, Paraguay's senate is considering accepting a new donation from Taiwan of $71 million.

"We will no longer vote (at the U.N.) for Taiwan despite the fact that we recognize the aid the country has provided," Lugo said.

It wasn't clear what impact the new president's position will have on Taiwan's latest offer of help.

Bristol Palin is Pregnant

I wonder how we (the base) will react to this news that Palin's daughter Bristol, 17, is 5 months pregnant, and that McCain knew of this when he chose Palin last Friday. What will the Dems start saying about Palin's fitness for office in light of her not keeping her daughter on the moral straight and narrow (as if the left does a better job of keep their daughters in line - rather they discard the evidence). You can bet they will try to make political hay out of this one. It seems that Bristol got pregnant just before Trig was born. Sure hope the father of the baby and Bristol will be afforded some bit of privacy by the media....but I'm not holding my breath.
